Prices & Packages

It is the highest priority of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter to adopt out healthy and behaviorally sound animals to our caring community. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals that need our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for adoptable animals until we can place them in a loving home.   Because we are a nonprofit organization, donations subsidize the gap between the cost for care and the adoption fee. It is only through the generosity of our donors that we have the resources to help so many animals.

Our cat adoption fees range from $35 to $65 and our dog adoption fees range from $75 to $250. High Demand Breeds are subject to have higher adoption fees than the regular prices. If any sponsored animals are available, their adoption fees will be noted at the shelter.  You’ll find that the adoption package at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is a great value.

 Promotional Prices

Sometimes the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is able to have promotional prices on the animals for certain times of the year. These promotional prices are usually advertised in the newspaper, in the Cheyenne Animal Shelter Lobby, and on our Facebook page and website. You can always call or go to the shelter to see about promotional prices for the animals as well.

Sponsored Adoption Fees

We also have donors that donate money to animals that have either been in the shelter a long time or people that turn their animals in because they have no other choice than to re-home their pets, these people will donate an amount of money to the animal’s adoption fee. Animals with a sponsored adoption fee are not listed on our website, or one of our 3 adoption search engines. On occasion if an animal has been in our care for a long time and we really want them to find their forever home soon, we will announce their sponsored adoption fees on our Facebook page, or if we chose a sponsored animal for our Pet of the Week. If you are in the shelter or call the shelter the animals that are sponsored are marked clearly on their kennel and in their animal profiles.

The Cost of Pet Ownership

The Cheyenne Animal Shelter works diligently to prepare each new pet that we adopt for their new home. To prepare a pet for adoption they receive their first set of vaccines, a broad spectrum deworming medication, and a health and behavioral evaluation including a physical examination by a trained member of our staff. If any health concerns are noted, the shelter veterinarian also examines the pet and provides any necessary care*. Pets that are not already altered are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Adopted pets also receive a microchip and registration for one year. With our adoption packet the receive coupons for various services, include a complimentary office visit with a participating veterinarian. They also receive 30 days of Shelter Care insurance to cover a wide variety of emergency or unexpected situations that may occur after they are adopted.
