On April 27th from 10-2 PM, join the Cheyenne Animal Shelter for a low-cost Vaccine Clinic!

Swing by the Shelter (800 Southwest Dr.) with your cats and dogs to get them microchipped and caught up on their vaccinations. What better way to protect your pet from preventable diseases? Thanks to Petco Love, we will be providing free Feline and Canine Distemper vaccines!

This clinic is walk-in based, so make sure to arrive early to claim your spot in line!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Pets must be aged 8 weeks or older and be healthy.

  • Pets must be brought in on a leash or in a carrier.

  • All pet parents must fill out the Petco questionnaire at the clinic.

Get your pint-sized pooches ready for the race of all races as we come together for the annual Corgi Derby! On May 4th, 2024 at 1 PM, join the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and Pine Bluffs Distilling as we work to raise funds for the pets and programs here at the Shelter!

Corgi and Mutt race registration is now open, as well as tickets for the best view of the track in Millionaire's Row! Don’t have a pup to enter? Show up for the fun and enjoy the races, adoptable dogs, food trucks, and delicious beverages from the distillery!

Dog Jog 5K

Mark your calendars, lace up your running shoes, and leash up your pups... the Cheyenne Animal Shelter's Dog Jog 5k is BACK and better than ever!

Join the pack and run for a cause on May 18th, 2024. This dog-friendly 5k welcomes runners and walkers of all ages (even in dog years!) to raise funds for the pets and programs of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.

Registration Includes

  • Short Sleeve T-Shirt

  • 5K Run/Walk Entry

  • Chip Timed Race Bib

  • LED Dog Bone Pet Safety Light

Parking

Parking will be available in the CCI lot at Laramie County Community College.

Start Time

9:00 am

Packet Pickup

Runners can pick up their packets on May 17th at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, located at 800 Southwest Drive, between 2 pm to 6 pm.  Packet pickup will also be available the morning of the event in front of the CCI Building.

Course Description

The race starts and finishes at the entrance to the parking lot in front of the CCI Building.  This is a flat and fast course with a total elevation gain of only 81 feet.  The course loops through the Sweetgrass Subdivision and then circles the perimeter of Laramie County Community College.

Aid Stations

There will be one aid station at the halfway point.  The aid station will have water, Gatorade, and a first aid kit.  Water and treats will also be available for dogs participating in the race.

Giveaways

Participants will receive a free t-shirt with their registration if they register by May 1st.  After May 1st, shirts will only be available while supplies last.

Timing Company

Bighorn Racing will provide timing services for this event.

Awards 

In lieu of the traditional age group awards, we will be celebrating our four-legged participants.  Awards will be given out in the following categories:

  • Fastest Large Dog (approximately 30 pounds or more)

  • Fastest Small Dog (approximately 30 pounds or less)

  • Most # of Steps Taken (tiniest dog to complete the course without assistance)

  • Fewest # of Steps Taken (largest dog to complete the course without assistance) 

  • "Fitness" Award (the dog that has started its journey towards a healthier lifestyle)

  • Most Well-Behaved Dog

Critter Camp 2024 - Week 1

Do you have a child that loves animals? If so, Critter Camp is the pawfect camp for them!

All camp dates this year will have an emphasis on animals around the world, featuring special guest speakers and community animals! Campers will interact and learn from Shelter staff, hang out with adoptable pets, and even participate in some fun animal-centric presentations.

Camp dates are as follows:

🐾 Week 1: June 24-28, 2024

🐾 Week 2: August 5-9, 2024

The Cheyenne Animal Shelter welcomes students ages 5-10 to sign up for general camp dates. Camp starts at 8:30 A.M. and ends at 3:30 P.M. daily. Registration for one child is $175. However, if would like to register more than one child, the cost is $150 per child.

Registration includes a Critter Camp t-shirt as well as camp supplies. Campers will need to bring their own lunches and water bottles –microwave and refrigerator space is available. Please be aware of different routes to get to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter due to the train schedule being unpredictable.

Discers for Critters Disc Golf Tournament

Do you love disc golf and supporting critters?! Join the Cheyenne Animal Shelter on Saturday, July 13th at Romero Park for the 7th Annual Discers for Critters tournament! This annual disc golf tournament benefits all of the critters who join us here at the Shelter and is a wonderful opportunity to show off your skills.

All entries will once again include an award-winning BBQ Lunch between rounds (vegetarian option available) and beverages after the final round. We will play two (2) rounds of singles on the extended 22 hole layout at Romero Park. To encourage junior and female participation we will be opening registration one week early for them to register on March 22nd at 8PM! Remaining divisions will open for registration on March 29th at 8PM.

Trophies will be awarded to top finishers in divisions with at least 3 participants. Divisions with 0 participants by June 7th will be eliminated as trophies will need to be ordered. Amateur players pack will include a Discmania custom disc (exact mold TBA) plus much more that will be announced soon. This year 10% of Pro entry fees will be going directly to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. See below for the per player payout breakdown for pro divisions:
$52 – To Pro Payout
$6 – Cheyenne Animal Shelter (Thank you!)
$2 – PDGA Player Fee

We will host a doubles event on Friday, July 12, 2024 starting at 5 P.M. at Romero Park. $10 per player ($5 for Payout / $5 to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter). Registration will be setup online and available on site. (More tournament information will be released as we get closer to the tournament date)

World Spay Day

On February 27th, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter will be offering 25 spay and neuter surgery openings for World Spay Day!

Our February Spay Day will include 20 cat and 5 dog spay/neuter surgery openings with the option to add on rabies, FVRCP, DA2PP, and Bordetella vaccines.

Registration will open on Saturday, February 17th, at 8:00 AM and must be done in person at the Shelter (800 Southwest Drive) with payment due at the time of registration. Proof of Rabies vaccine must also be shown at time of registration, or the vaccination will be added to the cost. We hope to see you and your furry friends there!

November Spay Day

On November 18th, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter will be offering 25 spay and neuter surgery openings!

Our November Spay Day will include the 20 cat and 5 dog spay/neuter surgery openings with the option to add on rabies, FVRCP, DA2PP, and Bordetella vaccines.

Registration will open on Saturday, November 11th, at 8:00 AM and must be done in person at the Shelter (800 Southwest Drive) with payment due at the time of registration. Proof of Rabies vaccine must also be shown at time of registration, or the vaccination will be added to the cost. We hope to see you and your furry friends there!

Dogotoberfest 2023

Fall is in the air, and you know what that means — Dogtoberfest!

Join the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and Freedom’s Edge Brewery for this festive street party on September 30th, 2023 from 2-5 PM. There will be beer, a costume parade (for pets and people), food trucks, "Wiener Dog Measuring", and the annual “Running of the Wieners” aka Wiener Dog Races!

Registration for the Running of the Wieners will be open from September 12th through September 29th at $25 per dog; all proceeds from race entry will go to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. (Dachshund mixes will be allowed to enter!)

September Vaccine Clinic

On September 23rd from 10-2 PM, join the Cheyenne Animal Shelter for a low-cost Vaccine Clinic!

Swing by the Shelter with your cats and dogs (on a leash or in a carrier) to get them microchipped and caught up on their vaccinations. What better way to protect your pet from preventable diseases?

This clinic is walk-in based, so make sure to arrive early to claim a spot in line! We hope to see you and your fluffy friends there!

Please review the follow prices and requirements for the available vaccinations:

  • Rabies Vaccine: $20.00

    • 1-year-vaccine, unless proof of vaccination is presented. Pets must be 3-months-old to receive.

  • Canine Distemper Combination Vaccine: $10.00

    • 1-year-vaccine for all pets over 4-months-old. Boosters recommended for pets under 4-months-old. Pets must be 6-weeks-old to receive vaccine.

  • Feline Distemper Combination Vaccine: $10.00

    • 1-year-vaccine on all pets over 4-months-old. Boosters recommended for pets under 4-months-old. Pets must be over 6-weeks-old to receive vaccine.

  • Bordetella Vaccine: $10.00

    • 1-year-vaccine. Pets must be over 6-weeks-old to receive vaccine.

  • Microchip: $40.00

    • Microchip includes registration.

We kindly ask that patrons use card payment instead of cash as we utilize our new database for this Vaccine Clinic.

Join the pack and run for a cause on September 9th, starting at the Sweetgrass Community Center. This dog friendly 5k welcomes runners and walkers of all ages (even in dog years!) with the goal of raising funds for the pets and programs of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.

Dog Days of Summer Concert - Rescheduled

Get ready to rock and roll at the 2023 Dog Days of Summer concert! Join us at the Nancy Mockler Dog Park for a free concert, exciting raffles, delicious food and drinks, and more! Cash and supply donations are welcome and will directly support the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and all of the sweet pets who join us. Bring your pups and lawn chairs and enjoy a chill evening while listening to Johnny Velvick perform with his band!

Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Can I bring my dog(s)? - We welcome our guests to bring their pups along to enjoy the event! We do require pups in the main field to be on leash for safety but can be off-leash if hanging out in the small park.

  • Will there be parking available? - There will be designated areas to park your vehicle at the dog park and around the Shelter. Make sure to arrive early before parking becomes limited.

  • How much are the tickets? - There is no event entry charge but donations (cash and supply) are welcome and encouraged!
