Revisiting Hope - A Kitten’s Second Chance at Life

Four months ago, a sweet little 3-month-old kitten made her way through the doors of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. She would later be known as the one and only, Hope

Hope had faced some serious trauma while roaming the streets of Cheyenne, leaving her with facial wounds, a swollen eye, and a severely broken and infected leg. Despite all her trauma, Hope displayed unwavering resilience and refused to let anything diminish her affectionate nature. Under the compassionate care of our exceptional veterinary team, it was determined that Hope would need her leg amputated.

After a short period of recovery, Hope was swiftly adopted by a family who would show her the love she always deserved. “Hope is an adventurer for sure,” says Talayna Hays. “She has transformed from a sweet, injured baby to a wild child who runs the house. She has made the adjustment very well, I don’t think she realizes that she had 4 legs to start with. She doesn’t let much slow her down.”

Hope was quick to adapt to her new life as a three-legged feline and, in no time, embraced the love of her new family. While at the Shelter, Hope was known for her playfulness and love for cuddling. In her new home, however, Hope has become the undisputed leader! “Her favorite toy is her lamb chop and she carries it around like a dog. We oftentimes think she is part dog,” Tatumn Martinez describes. “She runs the house like she was meant to be here and we really, truly think she was. [...] She tries to sneak up on us sometimes and she can never do it because she moves so loudly and stomps wherever she goes.”

Even with her newfound ‘wild child’ nature, Hope has become a staple member of the family. “Hope is part of the pack, there’s no doubt,” Makena and Allison Tiegs affirm. “She has a different connection with everyone, including the dogs and the other cat in the house. She may be small but has made a huge impact on all of our lives. We don’t know what we would do without her. Hope has truly been one of the greatest, craziest, and toughest pets we’ve ever had and we are all so thankful for her.”

Our beloved pets hold a special place in our hearts, offering us unconditional love, comfort, and endless joy. Now through December 31st, you have the opportunity to show your love and support for the pets in your life by making a donation in their honor to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. Through your contribution, you're not only showing your appreciation for the bond you share with your pets, but you're also providing second chances for other animals to find their own loving families, just like Hope.
