Unleash the Love this Holiday Season

Our pets hold a special place in our hearts, offering us unconditional love, comfort, and endless joy. For those of us who have been fortunate enough to experience this bond, making a holiday donation to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is an excellent way to give back to the animal community and honor the companionship our pets provide. The Shelter's dedicated team works tirelessly to care for countless animals each year, ensuring that they find loving forever homes. By making a contribution, you're not only showing your appreciation for the bond you share with your pets, but you're also helping other animals find their own loving families.

Take Miss Kitty, for example. 13 years ago, Doug and Linda Brunner visited the Cheyenne Animal Shelter to borrow a trap for a feral cat roaming around their home. “She was very feral, absolutely wild,” says Linda Brunner, recalling the success of trapping the feral cat whom they promptly named Miss Kitty. After trapping Miss Kitty, the Brunners brought her to the Shelter for a veterinary exam, vaccinations, and a spay surgery. Thankfully, she was in excellent health and officially became a new member of the Brunner family.

Inside of their garage, Miss Kitty’s new nook was arranged, complete with a cozy electric blanket, food and water dish, and a doggy door for her to come and go whenever she pleased. Despite Miss Kitty’s fearfulness of humans, Doug Brunner spent his time chatting with her, trying to build a connection. Eventually, his persistence paid off.

“It took over a year for her to let us handle her, but one day she just followed me into the house and never left,” Mr. Brunner reminisces. While Miss Kitty wasn’t the most cuddly of cats, she quickly claimed her spot in the home, often perched by Mr. Brunner in his recliner. She grew a new love for catnip toys and began to accept her new role as a lap-cat. “She became one of the most loving pets ever. Proof that with love, feral cats can become great companions with a little effort.”

After 13 years of love and companionship, Miss Kitty crossed the rainbow bridge on September 20th of this year. “We did love her and we all miss her,” says Mrs. Brunner. “Last year, we did the same thing for another cat. She’s living peacefully in the garage, but probably looking forward to the day she will move inside.”

This holiday season, consider making a donation to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter in honor of the cherished bond you share with your pets. Your contribution, whether big or small, can make a significant difference in the lives of animals in need. It's a heartwarming way to celebrate the joy and love our furry friends bring into our lives, while also ensuring that others have the chance to experience the same. Let's come together as a community of pet lovers and extend our support to this wonderful organization, spreading compassion and kindness during this special time of year.
