End-of-life Care Services

At the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, we understand that saying goodbye to a beloved pet is a difficult and emotional experience. Our caring and compassionate staff is here to provide comfort and support to both you and your pet during this challenging time.  Some of the end-of-life services we offer include euthanasia, cremation, and memorialization options, including free ink paw prints from your pet.

Our team is here to help you understand your options and make the best decision for you and your pet. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care and support to you and your furry family member.

We kindly ask that you schedule an appointment for our owner-present euthanasia services to ensure privacy and a space where you can spend time with your pet. Please call the Cheyenne Animal Shelter at (307)632-6655 to schedule your appointment.

Euthanasia and Cremation Fees:

Pet owners have the option to have their pet(s) cremated here at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or a crematory of their choosing. Please note that cremation fees at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter are based on the size and weight of your pet, as well as if you would like your pet privately or communally cremated. For private cremations, pet owners will have the opportunity to take their pet’s remains home. For communal cremations, this option is not available. Appointments are not required to utilize our cremation services.

About Ellie’s Garden

Ellie's Garden is a beautiful and peaceful pet memorial garden located at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. It was created and named in honor of Susan Samuelson's mother, Ellie, who was a passionate animal lover and advocate.

The garden serves as a special place to memorialize pets and honor their memories. It features a variety of plants, flowers, and trees that provide visitors a tranquil and calming atmosphere. There are also several benches and markers where people can sit and reflect on the joy that their beloved pets brought into their lives.

Ellie's Garden is a much-loved feature at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. It is a testament to the strong bond between humans and their pets, and a reminder of the love and comfort that animals bring into our lives.
