Doggy Day Out

Make a dog’s day and give them a break from the shelter!

What Is A Doggy Day Out?

Doggy Day Outs are open to the public and offer our pets a wonderful opportunity to escape the stress of shelter life while providing essential mental and physical enrichment. These outings allow participants to connect with the community, advocate for our shelter dogs, enhance their quality of life. They also allow us to gain valuable insights into their behavior outside the shelter environment. Furthermore, they serve as an effective marketing tool for our adoptable dogs, showcasing their true personalities and helping potential adopters see how they thrive outside the shelter.

Dogs who participate in field trips are four times more likely to be adopted!

Getting Involved

To get started, drop by the shelter and talk with a Customer Care Representative to discuss activities and handling comfort and they will pair you with one of our adoptable pups. We also have some rules/guidelines to look over as well as a waiver. You will be provided with a leash, an “Adopt Me” vest, waste bags, and plenty of treats.

Please note: you must be 18 or older to participate in the Doggy Day Out Program.

Group Doggy Day Outs are also encouraged so please feel free to stop by with your group or club and take multiple dogs out.

If you have questions or are interested in participating in the Doggy Day Out Program, please reach out to the Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator at acoward@caswyo.org

Hear Why Our Volunteers Love The Program

“I love the Doggy Day Out program because it allows me to spend a morning or afternoon getting to know a shelter dog. I get to see their unique personalities, their happiness, and their candid silliness. It is a joy to watch their personalities shine!” - Lisa, CAS Volunteer
