Tilly the Resilient Kitty
In the care of her new foster family, Cher’s journey would lead her to a new life, a new name, and some unexpected friendships.
Cher’s arrival at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter on September 7th was met with immediate veterinary attention. This 2-month-old tiny feline’s eyes were cloudy, scarred, and inflamed due to possible exposure to feline Herpes, leaving us with the expectation that she may need her left eye surgically removed. Fortunately with the expertise and care of our Veterinary team, the infection in her eyes cleared. Despite treatment, however, Cher would have to navigate the rest of her life without sight.
Enter Deborah Szymanski and Sean McQuaid, two incredible fosters with big hearts and a love for animals. A few days after Cher’s arrival, Deborah and Sean visited the Shelter to drop off their foster kitten, Strummer, for his neuter surgery. While passing through the Cat Adoption room, the two laid eyes on none other than Cher. Without hesitation, Deborah and Sean knew that this little lady was meant to be a part of their family and adopted her on the spot. Cher would now take on the name of Tilly.
After only a week in her new cozy home, Tilly found companionship alongside Strummer, resident cat Fat Charlie, and a pointy ear Corgi named Eleven. With Strummer’s guidance, Tilly blossomed into the cat she was always meant to be. The pair would regularly be found chasing each other around the house, finding odd spots for nap time, and spending hours watching the washing machine spin ‘round and ‘round. With her determined spirit, Tilly used a charming technique to win over Fat Charlie’s friendship. “Tilly and Fat Charlie have finally connected,” says Deborah. “Tilly’s strategy? If you pester someone long enough, they will acknowledge you!”
Tilly’s journey from a stray kitten in need to a cherished member of the family underscores the incredible work of our Fosters and is a testament to the profound impact that love and compassion can have on the life of an animal. The incredible transformation that occurs when we open our hearts to those in need is the true meaning behind Unleash the Love.
